Services

Blue Water Safe Horizons offers shelter and support services to survivors of intimate partner domestic violence and elder abuse. Services offered by the agency include:

24-Hour Crisis Hotline
Blue Water Safe Horizons operates a free and confidential crisis hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Trained operators provide safety planning, crisis intervention, information and referrals to other support services, such as shelter. The 24-Hour Crisis Hotline can be reached at 1-888-985-5538.

If texting is more convenient or a safer method of reaching out, we also have a crisis text line. If you are looking for information, seeking shelter, or just need someone to listen, a live, trained advocate is there. The Crisis Text Line* can be reached at 1-810-824-7948.

If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.

* Standard message and data rates may apply.

Carolyn’s Place Shelter Program
Carolyn’s Place Shelter Program offers time-limited emergency shelter and support services to survivors of intimate-partner domestic violence; their dependent children; and those individuals impacted by elder abuse and exploitation. Survivors stay off-site in private, non-disclosed safe spaces.

Adults who need emergency housing should first call the Crisis Hotline and speak with an advocate. The advocate will assess your situation.

In our shelter program, survivors (and their children if present) stay in private suites, off-site. We provide basic necessities such as food, clothing referrals, and personal care items. Survivors will receive assistance through individual advocacy, case management, and safety planning during their stay. Survivors may also participate in individual and group support.

Advocacy
Trained advocates offer survivors information about the different options available to them. Our outreach office can provide a secure location for you to have a confidential conversation with someone who can help. Our advocates will take the time to talk with you about your options and help you develop a plan that best fits your needs.

Advocates offer information, guidance, and support for deciding whether or not to report an assault to law enforcement. They also offer support and accompaniment with law enforcement; guidance and information about the criminal justice system; information about legal options, including how to obtain orders for protection (PPO); connection to community resources; and help creating a personalized safety plan.

Information and Referrals
Staff and volunteers at Blue Water Safe Horizon provide to survivors’ information and referrals regarding housing, legal assistance, counseling, temporary emergency housing, transportation, and health care.

Individual Crisis Intervention and Support Groups
Blue Water Safe Horizons provides individual and support group crisis intervention services for children, teen and adult survivors of intimate-partner violence, and individuals impacted by elder abuse and exploitation. We also provide support for significant others. Crisis Intervention is provided by advocates that are heavily trained in trauma-informed care.
